Nail art foil (potal) is an extremely thin decorative material that closely resembles genuine gold leaf in its structure. It is used to create luxurious, shiny, and sophisticated designs. Potal can be gold, silver, bronze, or multicolored, with metallic, pearlescent, or chameleon effects.
What is potal
Potal consists of ultra-thin sheets or fragments of metallized foil that can tear even from a light breath of air.
It is not thick and does not stick up; instead, it lays very smoothly, following every curve of the nail or gel surface.
In appearance and shine, it is almost indistinguishable from real gold leaf, which makes designs with potal look elegant and high-end.
Advantages of potal:
extremely lightweight and weightless;
adheres tightly to the surface;
does not add bulk to the design;
can be used both in fragments and rubbed into the surface to create a metallic effect.
How to apply potal on nails
Surface preparation:
Perform a manicure, apply a base coat and color. Cure properly.
Preparation for decoration:
For precise lines or defined fragments — apply potal onto the sticky layer of gel or gel polish.
For a blurred effect or metallic shine — use a special potal adhesive or a no-wipe gel.
Application:
Carefully transfer potal fragments onto the nail using tweezers or an orange stick.
Gently press to ensure it adheres evenly without air bubbles.
For a “rub-in” effect — take a piece of potal and softly rub it into the surface with a finger or sponge until a smooth metallic shine appears.
Sealing:
Apply a thin layer of top coat and carefully seal the edges to prevent lifting.
For longer wear, apply two layers of top coat.
Using potal in nail designs
Potal is suitable for many nail design styles:
luxurious accents in “Luxury” or “Royal Gold” designs;
marble effects, where potal fragments imitate gold veins;
French manicure with a metallic shine or moon manicure;
aquarium designs — potal can be placed between layers of clear gel;
combined designs with foil, sparkles, glitter, or sand.
Tips
Do not touch potal with wet hands — it may stick together.
Store it in a sealed container, protected from air.
For a more delicate effect, use small fragments or rubbing; for a bold accent, use larger pieces.
